I agonised for months about buying the ST before actually taking the plunge. It
wasn't that I was unsure about wanting the bike, quite the contrary, after
driving Marc DeVries bike I was hooked (did you ever get that commission from
Hinkley for your PR work?). My hesitance was due to the fact that there was only
one dealer in Ireland and they have a terrible reputation for standing over
warranty issues.
Well my bike was recently in for its first service at 1000 miles, and to have
the alarm and rack fitted. When I picked up the bike, the rack and alarm were
fitted free, I was given 10% off the price of the accessories and there was no
charge for the service. Not even for the oil and filter! One of the chrome
buttons from the allen head screws on the top yoke had turned black and I was
handed a bag of them as spares. I was stunned, top notch service so far.
The Triumph experience just keeps getting better and better. :-)

As I mentioned to someone yesterday, dealer service can make or break your
confidence in a marque. In his case there has not been much in the way of
positives - a shame as the bike is so much fun to own and ride.....
