Dan,

Welcome to the list ---- pleased to hear that you've had such good luck with
your Sportster, but your bike and the Sprint are like comparing apples to
alligators. When you realize how you can lay the Sprint over in a corner
and power your way out, you'll be thinking that your Sportster is more like
a Vespa (o.k., o.k. I admit it --- I've never owned or liked Harley's
because I never had a big enough pick up truck to drive it back and forth to
the dealer for repairs ---- ouch :-( ).

As it turns out the new '99 Sprint has a valve adjustment of 12,000 miles,
not 6,000 as you may have heard. Yes a number of individuals are having
theirs checked at 6,000 because there had been problems with other triples
(I think the '97 & '98 Daytona and Speed Triples), but I've talked to my
very reputable service people at my Triumph dealer and they're not at all
worried about the 12,000 mile interval.

Get the Sprint --- it may be one of the most versatile bikes you've ever
owned --- you can spend hours in the saddle doing cross country work
comfortably at triple digits (try that on a Sporster), or fly through the
twisties not far behind an R1!!!!!!! In 25 years of motorcycling, it is
without a doubt the best bike I have owned.

Later, Lance
