Thanks - mare sure to have the dealer note on paper each clearance
separately so you don't end up hearing "one was out of spec" - because as
soon as you ask which one, you may get a blank stare ......

Like I said - crude example - I knew I was going to be in trouble when I
said one point, but it was easier than saying 2 points where 1 could be
anywhere in a range of numbers...... ;-)

I realize that it is very unlikely that the bike would leave Triumph out of
spec. My point was more that we don't know what spec is. On the inlet,
acceptable clearance is 0.10 to 0.15 mm - On the outlet, 0.15 top 0.20 mm.
The problem is that two bikes leaving the factory - one at 0.10 inlet and
the other at 0.15 inlet would both be in spec. If we opened the bike up at
6k and found 0.10 we would have no way to know if the clearance had changed
at all. But looking at the clearance, one would naturally say that it has
almost dropped out of acceptable limits - but we really don't know if it
has changed at all........

98 T509 - performance problem caused dealer to check the valves at around
2k miles - 1 was out of spec by 0.01 mm - all others were well within spec.
