I used a couple of drops of goop along the top edge and have not had any
problems.

I agree - the Timberlands are very well designed. When I used to ride in
them, the only way my feet would get wet would be in full on downpours when
the water would trickle down my leg and into the boot. Several years ago I
moved to the BMW touring boots (probably not the correct name) and they are
awesome. They are leather with a zipper, gortex lined, and have armor
protection on the shin and ankle. The are also reinforced in the shifter
area on the right and left boot (great for my old right shifter). I have
over 30,000 miles on them and they're still going strong.
