Can you say ouch?

Yesterday I became the lastest lister to drop my red beloved. I was
following a couple of cages who decided at the last moment that crossing
railroad tracks at the speed limit (35MPH) would be altogether too
dangerous for them. I grabbed a handful of brakes and before you could
say oil spot, my bike was sliding towards the white line. My first
thought was that plastic sliding on asphault sure makes an ugly noise.
My second thought as the yellow line passed under my body was I hope
noone is coming the other way.

Damage to bike: Sidepanel LH (176.25)
                              Fairing Sidepanel LH (337.99)
                              Fairning Bracket upper (8.55)
Gearchange Pedal (pedal, one ball joint,
boot) (76.55)
                              Gearchange Rod (17.99)

Also scraped the left mirror, clutch lever, bar end, sidestand,
centerstand, and pillion footrest.

Damage to body: Bruised left hip, small piece of road rash on left knee

Damage to ego: inestimable

I was wearing a 1st Gear Kilamanjaro Jacket which did its job very
well. There was considerable scraping on the left side from the breast
area to the waist front and back. The belt will have to be replaced.

Even though I am sure you are not on this list, thank you to the police
detective who stopped to make sure I was OK and helped to pick up my
bike.

I was able to ride the bike to the dealer (stuck in 3rd gear) who stayed
late and got the ST fixed up enough to ride home (60 miles) and ordered
the essential parts so I can ride again

The important part is the I am still here to ride again..
