Thanks Brian,
The NSC/MSF says the same thing - that's one of the reasons they stress
watching the wheels on cars poised to enter your line of travel.
Do you have a copy of that study? It's been a long time since I've seen
one and even then, the data was very old.
Does it break down those crashes any further ? (like single light / dual
light / no light / age of bike / time of day etc)
