On my new ST, with the exercise of a little manual dexterity (perhaps the 
smallness of my hands helps) I find it possible to get the key in the seat 
lock and turn it enough to get the seat off, with the left bag in situ. Dave 
Collins, San Diego (174 miles on my ST so far)
