The first 500 miles

Got the last of the first 500 miles done at the weekend, down to the
lakes and back. It was real torture... She's loosened up a lot over
that time. I too thought initially I had a problem with the fuel gauge
but in fact it works fine, it just takes an age to start dropping. Plus
the Sprint uses less fuel than my old 500, at least during the first,
restrained 300 miles. Problems with the fuel warning light coming on at
irregular intervals seem to have solved themselves. I too have
difficulty with the first first to second shift of the day, i.e. it just
doesn't happen if you're moving faster than walking pace. A bit
embarrassing sometimes...

Er, what bolts? Recall letters haven't reached sunny Austria yet, but
then I've only had the bike for ten days. I shall be getting a top rack
fitted - I know they look naff but they sure are practical. I too am
going the Givi route since the price for the originals is indefensibly
high.

Waving: I wouldn't like to generalise about who doesn't wave here, most
do, except in the city where it can be argued that the clutch hand is
otherwise employed. It does remind me of the first time I rode on the
left (in NZ) and tried to greet an oncoming biker - with my right hand.
You don't need much imagination to work out the result. Btw I was
riding an "old" green Sprint. Does anyone know why they don't make them
in racing green any more? It would be an improvement on black!

Good question, what the **** are "squids"? Come to that, what's a VIN
(although that's pretty easy to guess). It is sometimes hard to follow
your mode of conversation...
