The leak occurs as the bolts loosen up. For me it happened over a 60 mile
span. Once I retorqued the bolts, I had no problem (and of course they now
have been replaced). My recommendation would be to check the torque on the
bolts if you will be taking atrip and then check them as you ride.

They don't break off, so carrying a rachet and appropriate bit would be the
only thing that I could suggest.
