RE: Engine dies at idle -found problem........

Have you checked the vent hoses and the check valve? Mine was doing the same
thing and it turned out to be a bad check valve and it only would do it
while it was hot and coming to a stop from a run like you had.

Today I was out doing a few high speed sweepers and such in my 200 mile
search for sanity (found it, thanks).
A really weird thing started happening to the bike. Every time I let it
come to an idle it died. It immediately started but would not idle. I ran
it down the road a ways and this continued every stop, even if I just
pulled in the clutch and let it idle down.
I then turned the key off for 30 seconds and fired it back up. Perfect, no
problem. Then I replicated the problem. What had happened the first time
is I was running the "crud" out of the bike and I banged the rev limiter
several times and held it as the front wheel was in the air. The engine
dropped a cylinder or so with the rev limiter, then the problem started,
which I didn't connect as it was a while before I let the engine idle down.
The second time, after the reset, the rev limiter being engaged for much
longer than ideal caused it to again not idle.
Turning the key off and restarting fixed it and as long as it doesn't
get run too long around 10,500 -11,000 rpm its ok.
It appears to me that the computer freaks out and must be reset by
turning the key off. It used to be Lucas Electric's I was worried about,
but now I guess Microsoft has sold Triumph some form of Windows or
something. Maybe we need to upgrade to an NT type software, or NEXT, or
Linux....
I did not try this again as I am not into inflicting pain on my beloved ST.
