Kyle . Could you describe for me what a piston bolt is. You may have =
noticed from my previous post that my bike quit last week. I had a =
strange noise just before. It happened very quick before the bike =
quit. After that the bike would not even attemp to turn over.
The mechanic is out of town this week so I dont know when I will find =
out what the problem is.=20

  Subject: Piston bolt loose!

Heard a sound like a ticking valve but heavier two fridays ago. Rode a =
little Saturday and a little more on Sunday. Up to 4000rpm it was okay. =
After 4000rpm the sound came. It was still there in the higher revs too. =
If you were at say, 3800rpm, and let off the gas, it came back again for =
a few seconds. I decided to take it to the shop first thing monday. The =
first thing my mechanic noticed was that the recall bolts that should of =
been changed when it was first delivered to me, were not changed. As the =
week went on, he couldn't find what was causing the noise. At the end of =
the week he finally found it. It was the piston bolt in my 3rd cylinder. =
It had quite a bit of play. I can imagine what would of happened if it =
gave up.
  =20
Triumph is going to pay for the whole thing. So it looks like my 1000 =
mile service has been turned into a 1200 mile full renovation. I should =
be getting it back sometime next week. They've only received half of the =
parts ordered.
  =20
I've already seen a '99 Daytona engine that you can see straight =
through. A Daytona demo blew up doing 170 kmh! Luckily the rider wasn't =
hurt. He was full of oil but he was okay!
  =20
Hope nobody else runs into this problem.
