RE: Corbin seats

Seems like a good time to chime in. I have had Corbin seats on two of my
four cycles (incl ST) and expect to buy a Corbin for my ST. I would be
four-for-four if Corbin had made seats for my previous Triumph.

Clearly this is not a product universally respected by everyone, but it does
seem as if a lot of the negative comments about Corbin relate to poor
customer service and prices perceived as too high. My point is that these
are areas of personal opinion and do not speak to the quality of the product
itself. I'm not saying the dissenters are incorrect, just that the subject
matter is subjective and our opinions should be considered as such.

My "facts":

I had a Corbin on a Honda CB750 for three years and 30K miles (91-94). It
was a moderate improvement over the stock seat, firm and comfy for my large
posterior (6'3", 240 lbs). My passenger loved it almost as much as I did.
Looked new when I sold the bike.

I had a Corbin on a Honda CB1000 for four years and 35K miles (94-98). It
was a huge improvement over the terrible stock seat. My passenger, however,
felt the seating position was a bit too high and up in the wind. I really
liked the ability to move around in the saddle during all-day rides. After
four years, there was minor evidence of stress along one of the welts, but
the stitching was still fine and there was no damage to the fabric surface.
Still looked great.

Lastly, my opinion on costs - nobody is making you buy this stuff. If you
want it, shut yer yap and pay the man. If you think it's too expensive,
don't buy it. I know a lot of riders who would say our beloved ST's are
over-priced. Certainly there are comparable bikes for less. But I wanted a
Triumph (dammit) so I ponied up the cash and never regretted it for a
minute.

Now if you you want to sound off on the cost of "The Lady" backrest, I'm
right there with you. That's a blatant price-gouge and my "lady" is going
to have to go without a backrest. ;-)

Hope I didn't offend anyone. I may not always agree with y'all, but you
ride one hellaciously fun scoot so you must be pretty smart!

Peace!
