Thanks for the response Bruce .....

none more than my wife. I had to do something as my wife won't take anymore
long trips until a change in the seat area is made.

I try, but I am only human - sometimes it doesn't matter how hard I try - I
just completely lose objectivity and become emotionally crazed - the old
"you will like what I like - dammit" ;-) But that usually fades rather
quickly ......

That's the key - it's nice to have options. I may get the seat back from
Sargent and find that it is terrible (although I am really hoping that I
love it).

Right now plans call for a touring upgrade to the whole seat with their
atomic foam, concentrating on the drivers area. This will give two nicely
defined areas instead of the current "flat" design. I may go for the colour
matched rear section which would give the impression of a seat cowl even
without having it installed.

I will also be bringing my bags to check out their fabric bag protectors -
I'll be sure to take some pics.

As for the Sargent sales people, they have really been top notch. I have
had my calls returned twice (both on the same day that I called) and get
what I would consider to be high quality service. Now this may be due to
the ST list etc but it is similar to the experience I had with the
restoration project (and that was a one shot deal) so I can only hope that
it is their normal mode.

Also, they are a Monday - Friday operation. In order to get my bike in,
they are having someone come in tomorrow on their day off to meet me (and
will offer the same thing when I pick it up) - very impressive.

And before anyone asks, yes I am getting a discount for leaving my bike
with them. But they are not giving it to me for free - not even close.
Figure in the transport costs (having my wife follow me up and dropping me
off next week) of two 300 mile round trips and the two shot Saturdays and I
am not making out at all (other than hopefully getting a better seat).

But at the end of all this we should have a pretty good idea of what they
are capable of ....

If bad - we can hopefully save some people from throwing away their money.....

But if good - we have an alternative to Corbin

Either way - we all win.
