Alternatively, check with your insurance company to see if you
(by any chance - anyone can forget) also took out a policy to
cover the UNinsured stuff - read: panniers, contents, clothing,
helmet, waterproofs etc.
Or I have even heard of people in the UK claiming - and
getting - damage from their home contents insurance for this
stuff, as it is part of their wardrobe (so they maintain). It's
all worth a try.
