After several months of lurking on this list I finally stepped up and
ordered a 2000 ST. Red or Blue was the first dilemma, with red winning out
by a very thin margin. I ordered the polished stainless race can, seat
cover, and heated grips. I'd like to have the dealer (BMW, Ducati, Triumph
Marin) fit these using the Euro light switch. I have a few questions that I
welcome any comments, constructive or otherwise:
1. Have the US dealers been able to order the Euro light switch from
Triumph, or do you have to call a UK dealer and have the part sent over?
How much are they? If I don't do this where does the stock switch go?
2. This will probably be a little more contentious: I'm on the fence
regarding the 2-box panniers: I much prefer the look of the bike without
them. I believe that a fairly involved mounting kit is used so that its not
as simple as just detaching them when not is use. Is this correct or are
there any quick release tricks?

P.S. Went to Johnson Leathers in San Francisco today and ended up ordering a
full set of leathers. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of
their merchandise or there level of service. There in process of putting up
