From Trophy to ST

I've just changed over from a platinum '98 Trophy 900 to a '99 blue ST -
300 miles done so far since the change.

What a difference ! It's so much smoother, more stable - especially in
corners, perhaps surprisingly much less wind noise, mainly due to the
absence of the turbulence produced by the Trophy fairing/screen, and
IMHO much better looking. It's sitting outside work distracting me at
this very minute.

A couple of questions if I may ...

1. Panniers & exhaust.

I've ordered panniers, but they're on a 6 week delay. However looking at
pictures of ST's with and without panniers I have to say that I think it
looks better without, especially the exhaust angled up. I know the
brackets allow you to pivot the exhaust down to fit below the panniers.
However, once the pannier brackets and locks are in place does that
prevent you from angling the exhaust back up again if there are no
panniers in use ?

Having seen the carbon fibre exhaust I think it looks great. However
presumably the EFI retune to suit this increases fuel consumption quite
a bit. Has anyone got any experience of the change in noise and fuel
consumption to help me decide ?

2. Screens

I know this has been brought up before - so I'll trade a bit of
information for a question :-)

I spoke to Jack Lilley last week about modified screens to give a bit
more protection and they said they were in the process of testing a
screen with a small flip up. They hope to have it ready by the end of
September. Does anyone know of progress by other companies in developing
dual bubble or flip up screens eg. Nuovo, MRA etc.

Roll on home time ...
