I carry oil so that if I have a leaking gasket 200 miles from the closest 
dealer, I will have something to top it off with. (Not that Dennis has any 
experience in this area) ;-) .

And even though the motor is new, it will still use some oil. I used about 
1/2 pint on my 3,500 mile Rally trip.

I usually have extra room, so my thought is better to have it than be on 
the side of the road at 2am wishing I had brought it.
