Road test results

For those one or two of you who did not get their 4th September copy of
the German language Motorrad magazine:

It contains a 14-page so-called "megatest" of 15 sports tourers. Yes,
fifteen. The four days of testing by riders from Germany, Italy and
Spain covered everything from the Hockenheimring to the Stilfserjoch
(one of the highest and toughest passes in the Alps). Of course with so
many bikes involved they were not comparing like with like. So, having
measured everything possible and done their best to promote the BMW K
1200 into first place, they seem to have decided to rely on their hearts
rather than their heads in deciding the winner. The measurements are a
bit dodgy anyway (the Sprint gets the best marks for the brakes). The
Hayabusa comes off really well, and then they dismiss it for one reason:
"the folded-up riding position is exaggerated", i.e. it's uncomfortable.

The tests were mostly conducted with luggage and partly with a pillion,
so the emphasis was on touring. But since they didn't need any luggage
they packed their cases with beer cans...

Anyway, whether you're still considering a new bike or just need
confirmation that you've already got the best - the winner comes, in red
or black, from Hinckley.

P.S. In fact it was a red one...
