Although I have not ridden either bike, I've read almost every review of
the R6 that has been printed in the past year. It seems that reviewers
can't review the R6 without comparing it to the R1 and/or the F4, so
I've read a lot about both of those bikes in the process. What follows
is a strictly subjective, hurestic impression.

Assuming your wife is a experienced rider, she'll probably be more
comfortable on the F4. The F4's suspension is more forgiving of the real
world's expansion heaves and potholes, and its engine doesn't complain
as much as the R6's when lesiurely spinning at 5K RPM. The ergos are
just a tad easier on the F4, and its linked brakes are said to (finally)
be pretty good.

Having said that, the F4 *is* meant to be ridden hard by an experienced
rider. While you could commute to work or even go touring on it, you'd
likely be a masochist to want to. It's best used as an serious weekend
canyon carver and as a bike for track days.

Don't let the absolute weight of a bike dictate which bike to get. How
that weight is balanced, and whether your wife can comfortably flat-foot
while in the saddle, is probably more important than anything. The new
crop of "naked" bikes, like Suzuki's SV650 or Kawasaki's ZRX1100,
generally have good ergos, good balance, and fairly low seats. You might
want to take a look at those, too.

Good luck, and safe riding!
