Sorry Mike. I did not write that....it was attached to my response to that mail. My message was that IMHO the 'thinned down' EFI engine was probably not as robust as the pre-97 885cc carb version, since it weighed some 20-30kg more. This is based on info from several dealers and mechanics both here in Germany and the UK. There is no doubt that the original Sprint/Trophy/Trident motors were 'rock hard'. Funnily enough they sound just like the similarly robust diesel Mercs used for taxis :)

It was a Trident, and it was 240,000 miles. Only difference to
standard maintenance schedule was 3000 mile oil changes. He had a cam
belt go at about 95,000 miles which was replaced under warranty.
