Re: cornering and rear suspension

If the bike was front wheel drive, it would squat.

When accelerating, the powered chain drives the rear tire, which the ground is countering. Picture this. The bike remains stationaty, power is applied to the rear tire, and traction is never broken between the rear tire and the ground..... what is going to happen? The rear suspension will head towards the ground as the rear tire is trying to move towards the front of the bike. Anyway, its tough to explain in words. Try visually observing other bikes under hard acceleration. Another point... When on the gas, the rear suspension stiffens.......and while on the rear brake, it softens?? Another point... roll off of the throttle in a turn and your ground clearance is reduced. If the opposite was true, motorcycles wouldn't corner very well under acceleration.
