What I have done is use the foam that computer companies use to pack laptops
for shipping. I trimmed the foam so that is fits in my pannier and there is
a hole in the middle that the laptops fits in. it is padded all the way
around. Airborne express should have some foam you could use. When I have to
ship laptops for repair they always bring a box designed for laptops.
