When I was in the Navy, I worked in the engineering department.
That put me in the boiler room for as much as 20 hours a day. The
boiler room is about as hot as you'd imagine it would be,
especially in the summer. Temperatures of 110 - 120 were not
uncommon with most of the working areas well above 95. Because of
our working conditions, we received through training in
heat-related injuries - how to recognize them, how to treat them,
and how to prevent them. Throughout the 10+ years of my service,
I received heat-stress refresher training every three or four
months and conducted more heat stress surveys than I can even
begin to count.

We were never, ever issued salt tablets, nor were salt tablets
recommended by our medical department or by the Navy. What they
recommended was drinking as much water as you could hold, even if
you weren't particularly thirsty. Proper nutrition and using the
salt shaker was sufficient to take care of the rest.

Taking extra salt or replacing electrolytes that you may or may
not have lost can, just like drinking coffee or soda, lead to
dehydration. Your body *will* extract water from it's tissues to
dilute and remove excess salt and minerals, and that will lead to
heat stress and (eventually) to heat stroke.

Be very careful with the salt and Gatorade if dehydration is a
problem. I would recommend what I do - fill the camelback
half-way with ice, then put half-and-half Gatorade and water in
it to the top.
