TT600 racing



Sorry but this is a very quick report on yesterdays event, I'm meant to
be home by now, so dinner will be in the dog again if I'm not careful.

Thruxton, Bank Holiday Monday.

The first problem was that the FIM have not homologated the bike until
July 1st. We were very fortunate that Barry Simmons, of the Federation 
of Racing Motorcyclists went round all the teams and got them to sign
a petition in order for us to compete. Top man.
The second problem was that Andi was suffering from the flu, not the best
thing when riding in Supersport.
The third problem was that we were running a totally standard engine, since
we have not finished working on the race one.
Anyway, Andi managed to get the bike onto the grid in 25th place, not as high
as we would like and 3.5secs behind the works Honda's, which also have about
20 BHP more than us! The start was a mess, those in front of him tried to 
jump the start as he was stopping the lights went out and the race was on.
He got away and was running 25th with a group, managed to pass a few and 
was then in 18th. As the laps progressed we could see him gradually getting
weaker as the effects of his illnes made its self felt. Eventually he ended
up in 21st place, not at all bad considering the lengh of the race and the
opposition we are up against, and this on a standard engine. 
The encouraging bit was that the suspension was in fine shape through out the 
race with no signs of fade. The bike handles brilliantly and holds really
good corner speeds, only problem is the straights, but we will get there.
Thruxton is the fastest circuit in the UK and as such we knew it was going
to be a hard baptism of fire.
Still Donington next Monday for a round of the MRO championship. Hope to
see some of you there.
