I had an idea you knew first-hand about this.  I was very suspicious --
hence the question to the list.  You are a wealth of reliable info -- kudos
to you!

Have you noticed that there is a newer model called the Targa, which has the
same functions as the BC800, but is their 'heavy duty' model, designed
primarily for mountain bike use?  I didn't notice if the website stated that
it is waterproof, but you could call Sigma and then decide if you believe
what you hear :>).
