     Robert,

I have found that if I use a coat of Autoglym hard gloss finish after
I wax the paint (twice a year) that dead bugs etc wash off with
minimal effort. Prior to using this product removing corpses without
damaging the paint was a real pain.

I eventually went to a Wholesale motor factors and bought a gallon of
the detergent they use in powerwashes to clean trucks. Dilute it down,
wash the bike, leave for five mins and rinse. It wasn't branded but
you should be able to get something similar locally.

     Martin
