Re: Tools - Good Brand Names

Geez. No consensus, eh?

Couple of points.

1. Snap On now sells from its web site, so you don't have to call the truck
over and threaten your credit rating for the rest of your natural life. (My
thinking is that once you've handled a tool, you've already bought it.)

2. I've had really good luck with Sears Craftsman. And, as someone
mentioned, there's a Pro line of really nice stuff. I've got a bit of that
stuff, too, and will gradually replace the older stuff with it. (Hey, like
buying a record in vinyl and then buying the same thing again on CD!)

I've even had to return some Craftsman tools and have never, ever had a
problem. Had a 6-point socket on a breaker bar on a friend's Civic to remove
the crank pulley for a timing-belt change. Forgot it was there and started
the engine. That socket looked like a pretzel, but not even a wince on the
part of the guy at Sears. No questions asked. Oh, and Sears takes all kinds
of credit cards now.
