Interesting analogy, the vinyl vs. CD comparison.
Some of out here in HiFi land still buy vinyl in preference to CD's, or =
in
some cases buy the CD first and if its any good (and released on LP) =
then
buy the vinyl!

ST content: um....bought a pair of heated grips at the weekend from a =
shop
that had lost the Triumph agency so were getting rid of unwanted parts =
and
accessories, paid =A388 ($126). I have very limited mechanical skills =
so will
get the local bike shop to fit, paid by the hour. What should I expect =
a
trained bike mechanical to take time wise. 2 hours?

Geez. No consensus, eh?

Couple of points.=20

1. Snap On now sells from its web site, so you don't have to call the =
truck
over and threaten your credit rating for the rest of your natural life. =
(My
thinking is that once you've handled a tool, you've already bought it.)

2. I've had really good luck with Sears Craftsman. And, as someone
mentioned, there's a Pro line of really nice stuff. I've got a bit of =
that
stuff, too, and will gradually replace the older stuff with it. (Hey, =
like
buying a record in vinyl and then buying the same thing again on CD!)

I've even had to return some Craftsman tools and have never, ever had a
problem. Had a 6-point socket on a breaker bar on a friend's Civic to =
remove
the crank pulley for a timing-belt change. Forgot it was there and =
started
the engine. That socket looked like a pretzel, but not even a wince on =
the
part of the guy at Sears. No questions asked. Oh, and Sears takes all =
kinds
of credit cards now.
