Re: Oil pressure gauge

Sounds good to me. It might be difficult finding a gage that fits in right, has the correct range of pressure, and looks complimenting to the bike's dash. Perhaps a combination pressure/temp gage (if one exists). I always thought it would be neat to have a shift light set up to illuminate the OEM dash lights. How about a Boost Gage...yeahhh! for a turbo!!!. I wish that turbo dude would modest up a bit on his pricing. How about a mini-storage compartment for the near useless fuel gage hole. Eric just mentioned a voltmeter. I would prefer an ampmeter...more difficult to install, but will tell you the net amperage going into or out of the battery....the ampmeter will show if the alternator is providing more amps to the battery that it is currently drawing, thus showing the net amount of charging taking place. A negative reading will mean that the alt is not keeping up with draw. A large amount of charging indicates a poor battery, or excessive draw when the bike is off.

I'm patiently waiting for my dealer to let me know when parts for the fuel
gauge fix come in so I can get them fitted. If this fix is right on the
money then what's the sense of having a warning light and a gauge? I might
just decide to use the trip meter and fuel warning light to figure out when
to get gas. I think I will put something else in the fuel gauge hole. How
about an oil pressure gauge? Yeah! I'm a gadgety kinda guy and this would
be right in the ball park. I even thought of installing an oil temperature
gauge, too but I'm not sure I want to plumb into any oil galleries
(pressured) and even less sure I want to be having to make a hole in the oil
pan to install the sending unit. I've even considered leaving the fuel
gauge where it is and installing (flush mount) the other gauges on the
fairing. What do you guys think of all of this nonsense?
