Willemina had a thought on a possible location for Rallye 2000. The place
is located just off I-75 in a national park, half way up a mountain in
Kentucky. Just outside of Corbin, Kentucky (home of KFC) is a place called
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. They have a lodge, cabins and camping.
According to the AAA guide for last year, the facility has 96 rooms, 19
two-bedroom units and cottages. It is near Cumberland Falls which is a
waterfall which drops 67 feet. The water strikes the bottom with such a
force that a perpetual mist hovers over the valley, creating a "moonbow" on
clear nights during a full moon. This is all in the middle of the Daniel
Boone National Forest and twisties abound. There is some information on the
internet, but apparently there is also horse-back trail riding and hiking
trails available also for non-riding family members. Anyway, that is our
suggestion for a possible location, fairly central, and interesting scenery
and history all around.
Regarding insurance, has anyone looked into the possibility of being covered
under the umbrella of the AMA? A rally may need to be approved by them and
the attendees would then need to be members, but maybe that is a possible
way to go.
