The sad truth is that unless you pick something extremely central (and
boring) like Kansas (sorry to anyone from Kansas, no insult intended), it
will be a long ride for some group.

Willemina had some good reasons for suggesting Corbin, KY, and an ulterior
motive. Kentucky is reasonably central, north-to-south making it a good
choice for anyone east of the Mississippi from Florida to the eastern
provinces of Canada. She has been there and can attest to the quality of
twisties; lots of interesting mountain roads. There are a variety of
lodging possibilities nearby, from the Cumberland Falls Lodge to many chains
in Corbin to camping, both KOA-style and more rustic.

Her ulterior motive is that she'd like to see the rallye location be
somewhere that offers non-riders some interesting activities. Our plan
would be for the entire family to be there, hopefully with 2 bikes and 4
helmets, but that isn't certain. We would like to have something of
interest to offer the children (9 and 12) and Willemina if they choose not
to join some of the rides.

Corbin, KY is easily accessed from I-75 from the north or south, and I-40
from the west. There is a Triumph dealer in Lexington, just north of Corbin
on I-75. Perhaps they could be encouraged to help plan some rides, or put
us in touch with local riders to help.

I brought up the area on AAA Map'n'Go to check the roads in the area. All I
can say is: WOW! Even if the rallye isn't held there we plan on going there
for a long weekend to explore on bike, some time this year.
