RE: Steven and Greg's Excellent Adventure

Just got back from Iowa, I got to see alot of cool fireworks. I feel I need
to clarify some things here;
<<
Dirty Dawg, true to his moniker, did not wash his bike the entire time we
were on
our adventure.
>>>

The inside joke here is that, it is true, I don't wash my bike that much.
But there were some people at this event that were just too anal. We
watched countless numbers of people ride in, while it was raining, pull up
to the bike wash area, and proceed to soap down their bike, in the pouring
rain, still in full gear. I watched a guy on a Africa Twin, the huge dual
sport Honda version of the BMW GS(Triumph Tiger) wash evey square inch of
the bike, including the spokes, in a down pour. Too much :)

<<
We rode with Odd Dawg and Big Dawg on our return journey from Joe and Pam
Cocker's Mad Dog Ranch (Joe was there to greet us!). The Sprint STs again
showed how truly versatile they are. Dirty Dawg led us through some tight
twisties in a National Forest at a brisk (yet sane) pace, but later admitted
he was holding back to keep our group together... only occassionally did his
"Duhamel Jr." side show and when he left us in the dust around a few
corners.
>>

The route refered too was Hwy 65 north from 92, thru the western leg of the
Grand Mesa National Forest, then superslab boogie to Avon. As interstates
go I-70 from Glenwood Springs to Avon is pretty nice, fast sweepers and nice
scenery. We originally came down from Glenwood Springs on 133. The Mad Dog
Ranch is in Crawford. After having to motocross for about 1/2 a mile where
they were replacing the road, we thought another route was in order. Going
down thru Gunnison would have taken a bit too long. We covered about all
the western environments, lush forest, grand mountains, bare rock canyons,
high chapparel, and back into the green mountains.

I just didn't feel it was neccessary to push any harder that we were going.
I could have, but the thought of having to find a ride home due to
unfamiliar roads kept me fairly in line. I like sharing the riding with
others without causing unneccesary "peer-pressure" to keep up, when alone I
prefer the 'go dog, go' approach.
