Jim,
bizarre but relieving, in the sense that at least it wasn't total engine
seizure (which would have been a real shock at 6,000 miles!)
I should have been more alert to the stench of oil burning on the exterior
of the engine and exhaust, as I suspected there was something going on but
thought it was just a swarm of locusts that had crashed into the engine at
full speed!
