RE: Whaddaya shift at???

I've just posted a cadence diagram from my 2000 ST on the upload handle,
which should give you the chance to decide for yourself where to shift.

Not meant to be patronising, but in case you've not seen cadence diagrams
before:
- - the lines are the torque curve adjusted for the gearing, and hence show
the force available for drive in any gear (and hence the potential
acceleration)
- - first is the top line, sixth the next to bottom line
- - the bottom line represents the resistance to motion, which comprises
air-drag, and tyre deformation
- - Shifting up a gear means you drop vertically from one line to the one
below (give or take a bit of a delay as you hit a false neutral!). It means
that there's less force available in the next gear; ergo, wheelies in first,
but not in sixth!

Hey presto, top speed is when the driving force equals the resistance. About
253 km/h (157 mph) in this case.

Solved or more confusion?
