The ST gas tank is non-metallic, which of course makes it non-magnetic.

So far I've been using Motul 5100 as per dealer recommendation and have no
complaints, but I'm thinking of switching to Motul 300V 15W-50 even though
it's way more expensive.  Apparently Triumph specifies SH-rated, and Motul
5100 is SG-rated.  My dealer does not stock the Mobil 1 Triumph specific
brand.  In any event you should give serious consideration to using a 'full'
synthetic, ester-based oil.
