Regular tiedowns can be readily used without the 'web doohicky
thing' and also without using the hook on the end that attaches to
the bars.
Simply pull a loop of the tie-down strap through the eye portion of
the hook and slide the loop over the bar. Adjust the eye so it feeds
the strap out in line with the tiedown point of the truck/van so as
not to put a torque force on the grip/throttle; this prevents the
grips from loosening. It is best to have the throttle half-open when
you make this adjustment.
If a grip does come loose, it wasn't securely glued on and could
possibly have come loose in your hand (don't ask how I know).
