If I had to hazard a guess, I would say improper setup. I have read the
many post of problems, yet with over 10k on the panniers, I have yet to
have a single nut loosen up. When I got mine, nothing was installed - every
nut and bolt had to be "worked" by me. The dealers complained of the
complexity and time required to fit the panniers and so triumph responded
by getting the kits sent with a lot of the hardware already installed, but
only hand tight. This would mean that the installer or dealer, should still
be checking the torque on all the fasteners - the ones experiencing the
problems may not have had all the hardware properly tightened.
Again, this is just my two cents worth - I may be completely off base.
