NEW TRIUMPH TUNE

Hi there Bill and fellow STERS

I have had Big Red at the dealer twice-once at Wilsons in Fresno, and once
(last week) in Santa Ana, Orange County Triumph. Wilsons did the 500 mile
service and called it the 600 mile service because thats when Suzuki and
other jap bikes do their break in service. I dont know if they did any
downloading of a "new" Triumph tune at that time, but it seemed just a tad
anemic after their service. Not enough to complain though, as Im in
Bakersfield. Wilsons personell seemed distant, and really not Triumph
oriented people. They also handle Ducati, and maybe Kawasaki. Nothing I
could really put my finger on to complain about-just a general lack of
interest. Also NO ACCESSORIES at the dealership. One must order
them-I was suprised that they had oil filters! Orange County was different
however. They were a lot friendlier-I dunno maybe they were just good
salesmen-but there sure were a lot of Triumph motorcycles there, and LOTS OF
ACCESSORIES. They even had the stainless Triumph race can, and tall
windscreens. Also-heated grips, race cams, pistons. I heard one guy
talking about the Triumph race cams, and how they were degreed in, answering
a customers question. The tecs were friendly and knew their stuff. I was
allowed in their shop, and watched them work, and didnt see anything but
good mechanic work going on. The shop was clean, picked up, and orderly.
The techs wore clean uniforms, and they really roadtested the repaired
bikes. I dont know how "new" or "old" the tune they downloaded on Big Red
was-when I asked if they downloaded the newest tune-I was told "sure", and
"we get Triumphs latest tune regularly, and when a bike comes in for
service,we always download it" "Your bike was running really lean, when we
downloaded the tune, and you will notice a lot better performance" Well, he
wasnt lieing-it was fast before-even faster now-I just hope it gets about
the same milage-40 in town-50 on trips.
