Start slow and get used to the track layout and your bike first. Don't
worry if people are passing you. Remember it's not a race so don't let your
ego get yourself into trouble.

If the track doesn't have shade, bring your own.

Bring a 5 gallon gas can, your mileage will take a big hit at race speeds,
and I liked being able to put in just enough gas for each session. No sense
in carrying any extra weight.

I ran mine on the stock Bridgestones and the rear gummed up pretty bad,
although the track tempature was pretty high that day. Other riders who I
was keeping up with didn't seem to have the same problem.

Bring lots of fluids to drink. You will get tired and thirsty a lot quicker
than you will imagine. Drink the fluid before you get thirsty.

If you feel your concentration waning, take a few laps off. If at the end
of the day you are really tired, stop. We had a lot of crashes late in the
day because people were getting confident, but their energy and
concentration was spent.

Finally, remember to bring something to pry that smile off your face when
it's over. Otherwise those muscles will be sore too.
