Re: First Track day!

Tux,

First of all you'll have a blast. Make sure to drink plenty of water.
You'll be surprised how fast you dehydrate and won't notice it until
later--- this can increase fatigue much more quickly. Start with the C
group and if you feel comfortable enough, most of the track days I've done
allow you to move up to another group.

The bike should be just fine, even with stock tires. I've done three track
days on the OEM tires, and once they heated up they really weren't that bad.

If you haven't modified the suspension, even with it dialed up front and
back, I would seriously consider taking off the belly pan to avoid that all
too common right side rash. I also unscrewed the 'peg feelers' on each of
the footpegs.

Most importantly remember this is not a race. I keep talking to myself in
my helmet reminding myself that I'm trying to outsmart the track, not the
other bikes on the track. People are generally very courteous and
conscientious. As the day goes on your confidence will jump and you'll be
amazed how far over you'll be able to lean the ST.

Have fun,

Lance LaCerte, Denver, CO
