Re: DANGER S.T. RIDERS PLEASE READ[ IGNITION WIRE HARNESS]

<< This problem and fix is in the FAQ section (the "is there anything I need
to be aware of" section). If anyone has a 99 they would be wise to not only
cut the wire tie, but also check to make sure that there has been no
 rubbing damage. >>

This happened to my early 99 sprint, but I only found out on the second
battery that was failing. I've posted before what happened. The first
battery It was told was either my fault or a duff battery. The computer
testing didn't pick up any problem. The second battery was failing
unexpectedly after 2 months, so when stopping at the service dept to drop off
the bike for another check, I couldn't switch the engine off, not even with
the kill switch, which proved there was something happening in front of their
eyes! It was the ignition wiring in the wrong place, all mangled up and worn
through. So because the shop believed the computer rather than me, (It was
intimated that I was not using the bike frequently enough ((female gender)) )
They were as shocked as me, though, probably because that wasn't the bike
shop I'd purchased the bike from and they may do a better check before it
goes onto the road. Ann
