I've also experienced a false neutral between 5th and 6th a few times. It
feels like there are two "notches" going into 6th, and if you are
riding/shifting quickly you go into the first notch (into the false neutral)
rather than past it into 6th gear. Making the shift slower and with a firmer
action seems to overcome the problem.
