Synthetic Motorcycle Oils

Hi All,

Two more questions for the oil specialists:

1) I was told that the title "synthetic oil" does not say very much because
there are obviously three totally different technologies for the production
of a synthetic oil:

- - Esther Technology,
- - PAO Technology and
- - Hydrocrack Technology.

Which is the best in general and especially for use in motorcycles? Which
oil brands use this technology?

2) On the Bel-Ray website (FAQ Section) it is mentioned that Bel-Ray EXS has
special anti-wear properties like zinc which is not used in auto oils
because it clogs the catalytic converter. What about motorcycles with
catalytic converters (like new Triumphs, BMWs etc.)?
Should they avoid Bel-Ray EXS and all other oils with zinc due to the zinc?
If not - why should the zinc have no adverse effect to the catalytic
converters of these motorcycles? (By the way: do the Sprint ST/RS also come
with a catalytic converter in the US?)

Thank you!

Ride Safe

Thomas
