Thomas, Hydrocracking is a process in which high pressure at around 230
bar causes the oil or in some cases wax for extra high viscosity, to
break the molecular chain to produce "synthetic oils" The other way to
break these chains is by high temp. but this causes coking and makes the
oil black and much less usable. I believe most high rated oils made by
good name companies such as mobil, shell, castrol, motul, silkolene ect.
will provide all the protection you will need. The best thing to do is
use a good brand oil that meets or betters the requirements set out by
in our case Triumph, and dont miss oil changes. Also synthetic oil
does'nt mean that the oil does'nt come from the ground, or is totally
man made. The base oil in most synthetic does come from crude. When the
oil has been changed from it's natural compound to something very
differant by eg.hydrocracking they can then say it's "synthetic".
Enjoy the ride.
Greg.
