The situation that prompted this particular discussion occurred as I
was accelerating into another car's blindspot.  (And face it, if they
don't look before moving, the blindspot is huge.)  It was the worst
possible time, since I was accelerating and she moved left when she
was just a couple of feet in front of me.

There was no left to go to... just a median barrier.  The lanes are
very narrow coming through the city, so lanesplitting through didn't
feel too comfortable, although it might have been doable.  But since
I'd been accelerating, the lane behind me was pretty clear, and
braking was the best evasive maneuver.

P.S.  My Sprint is back from CalBMW, with heated grips, shiny blue
bags, and all new wiring (and therefore a working headlight.)  YAY!
