I worked this all out in a spreadsheet a while back. Let me see if I
still have it...

...ah - there it is. I figure that it should be 16.145 miles per hour
at 1000 RPM in 6th, assuming an effective aspect ratio of .52 (as
opposed to the .55 stamped onto the sidewall). Calculating it that way
gives 155 MPH (to three decimal places) at 9600 RPM in 6th, so I think
that's probably pretty close.

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to e-mail my spreadsheet to
you. It *is* based on the '99 gearing, but for the Y2K bikes all you
need to do (I think) is change the value for sprocket teeth.
