fork coating defect????

After checking the affected area as said, I have found no change in the
coating on any part of the forks.
But I have a f@*$ing howling fuel pump still.
I dont ride super hard so that could have some bearing if thinking of
stress. At present I've ridden 1600 kms and is a 2000 model.
