Bike newly Kriss'nd

I recently installed the Kriss Starburst Headlight Modulator, Brake
Alert, and Signal Guard I (turn signal cancelor). All went reasonably
smoothly, once I asked how much current draw to expect on the horn
button relay ( a few milliamps). The ST has a negative horn activation,
thus requiring the use of a relay to provide +12V to the Headlight
Modulator (this signals the modulator to use longer flashes as an
attention getter anytime you touch the horn button - nice feature).

I tie-wrapped the headlight modulator and turn signal cancel to the
frame under the front fairing, so it is all tucked away nicely. The
instructions suggested mounting a small clamp (provided) to the fairing
for the light sensor (headlights won't modulate when dark), but I
dislike having to disconnect things when removing body parts. I just
tie-wrapped the sensor to the brake line/speedometer cable bundle, works
well. The Brake Alert module sits velcroed to the rear tray. This way it
is held in place until I need to remove it (very quickly done).

So I'm a veritable blinking idiot on the bike these days :-)

The headlights only modulate on high beam when daylight. The horn
flashing is a clever idea. The rear brake lights flash when applied. But
I think I like the turn signal cancellation the best. I would
periodically forget to cancel, and notice it blinking miles after I made
the turn. I find this annoying in others, and was going to add some kind
of buzzer to alert me, but this is far preferable. A couple of minor
annoyances however. When turning on the ignition, sometimes one side or
the other will start blinking. Since I connected the neutral switch to
the system to prevent cancellation while in neutral, I usually just
cancel this using the Triumph push button. Also, periodically, the turn
signal doesn't activate after being canceled. I wrote to Kriss and they
responded that the turn signal cancellation only turns off the signal,
you must still use the manual cancel to clear it. I have found this to
be inconsistent, sometimes it works fine, others you have to cancel
before signaling. I think I would purchase the system again even with
this annoyance, but it would be nice if it didn't require it. No
response on the intermittent signaling when ignition is turned on.

I feel that this is a good investment in making my presence better
known. It seems I have quite a few vehicles move over when lane
splitting (I know, the Triumph digest is positively littered with
comments, and sorry Shannon, some things (like a motorcyclist even
thinking about intentionally harming another rider) just is NOT FUNNY, I
don't care what day of the year it is!

So it was a little over $250 for the entire package. About 4 hours,
taking my time, to install. I double sticky taped the required relay
(ten pin IC circuit in size) to the headlight unit, then wrapped it in
electrical tape. I used the supplied connectors, and added a few of the
wire splice connectors to make all the rest of the connections. If you
see a blinking Red ST in the Bay Area, it's probably me :-)
