wear on footpeg/shifter rubbers

    I wear rubber-soled boots (Frey Daytona) and my footpeg and gear
shift rubbers aren't excessively worn.

    Not having read this particular part of the manual - what does it
say about the lock nut?  An ex-friend of mine who is a Triumph mechanic
pointed out that the adjuster thread is fixed to the bar mount rather
than the end of the cable, so the lock nut has to go the opposite way to 
most (all?) other bikes.  He also said that this was demonstrated
incorrectly on the Triumph training video!
