Re: brake lever excessive travel



Matt,

Been, seen it, got the T-shirt....

You plunger is worn and you need a new master cylinder. Same thing happened
on my Ducati ST4. One test that might validate is this:

try pulling your brake lever ultra-slow, as in a slow-motion pull that is so
weak that the plunger gaskets don't seat. If the master cylinder is shot,
you may be able to slowly work the lever all the way back to the grip w/out
engaging the brakes ! Of course a hard pull might push the seals into place
and yeild pressure. Try it and see what happens.

Luckily, the fix is simple and takes not time at all. Just put on a new
master cylinder and problem solved (at least in my case).
